CelluForce NCC® Marine Biodegradability

Published On: 6 May 2020Categories: CelluForce News

CelluForce NCC® is marine biodegradable as assessed by the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) 306 standard test.

Achieving degradation in the marine environment is one of the more challenging tests of a biodegradable material. CelluForce commissioned the OECD 306 marine biodegradability test for CelluForce NCC®. It was found that the utilization of the theoretical oxygen demand (ThO2) was  62.5% by day 28 of testing. This exceeded the requirement of the test to designate a material as marine biodegradable (> 60% ThO2 within 60 days of testing).
